Brown spots
Brown spots are caused by overactive pigment cells and too much melanin. Melanin is what gives our skin its dark color. Ultraviolet (UV) rays speed up the production of melanin and make it easier for it to come out in clumps and in higher amounts. When there is a lot of melanin in one place, a brown spot forms.
